Therapy

Elite Children’s Care Group have an exceptional amount of experience caring for children and young people who have experienced significant trauma and disrupted attachment in their early life. These experiences have often resulted in a fragmented self-concept characterized by fear, anxiety, sadness and anger. Children express these feelings through distrust in relationships and the world in general, as evidenced by various challenging behaviours intended to manage overwhelming emotions. We also have experience for caring for children and young people that have neurodivergent disorders such as Autism and ADHD.

Many children we care for have missed out on safe, consistent and nurturing relationships crucial for healthy development, making it difficult to trust that future relationships can provide the security and support needed.

To address trauma symptoms, Elite Children’s Care Group provides a therapeutic environment designed to be safe, supportive and facilitative. All staff are thoroughly trained in attachment-focused, psychodynamic theories and practices and receive regular consultation to understand behavior meaning and respond to each child’s changing emotional, psychological and behavioral needs through their individual therapeutic and developmental process.

To ensure continuity of treatment focus across all areas of life, an individualised integrated care plan is created to guide interventions, reviewed in monitored intervals to evaluate efficacy over time. This plan incorporates background research, observations across contexts, and standardised assessments relevant to each child’s unique trauma history, presentation and needs.

How Therapy Supports our Care?

Our residential placements at Elite Children’s Care are designed to provide children with a secure, nurturing environment. This allows them to develop self-confidence, build relationships, engage in learning, and explore the world in a supported way – with the reassurance that their basic needs will be understood and addressed.

We take a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach to therapeutic intervention. Our in-house clinical team includes psychotherapists and clinical psychologists who conduct comprehensive assessments of each child’s therapeutic needs upon arrival. This informs the development of individualised treatment plans. Progress is re-evaluated in measured intervals to ensure therapeutic goals in key areas are being achieved.

Additional services such as individual psychotherapy, play therapy, equine therapy or clinical psychology sessions are available if a child would benefit. Therapy employs various modalities – including creative arts, play-based, drama, group work, and narrative approaches – tailored to each child’s engagement style. The goal is to help children gradually process trauma, develop a coherent life story, and build resilience by externalizing responsibility for past experiences.
